Some of you may remember the old Public Voice project I started on here yonks ago. Well... 12 years on, I've built it. Though it's come along a bit since then.
It's just a bit of fun, but now that I can use AI to help with the database and backend stuff that I couldn't do previously, I've gotten a bit carried away and ended up putting over 200 hours into it.
I've added many of the features discussed in the original thread, plus a few extras.
- Customisable utility column for Updates, Saved and Popular threads
- @mentions, basic markdown, 60-second edit/delete window, notes
- In conversation: the latest posts and discussions as they happen
- In pictures: the latest images from every thread in one grid
- Dark and light themes
- Topics (if/when needed)

I'm also working on a new addition called Spaces.
Users will essentially be able to create their own Public Voice, open or invite-only, and build their own communities using the Public Voice template. That's still in development, though.
Feel free to sign up and get involved. It'd be great to see some more familiar faces on there.
It's in beta, so far from perfect. Tell me what breaks or what's missing and I'll fix it. I like the idea of this being an open community project, so if anyone wants to get involved, or has any suggestions or ideas for improvements, all are more than welcome.
Received the brand vector for a fairly well-known brand here in the UK - by no means huge, but a lot of people here would know it.
It has a keyline rectangle around the wordmark.
The keyline, in their own brand vector file, was a rectangle with a specific stroke width set.
It wasn't an outlined form.

Autumn is upon us, and it's time to kick the cold season off with proper soup ramen.
Tonight was a straight shio tonkotsu, made more fragrant with my onion/spring onion/leek/garlic/ginger-infused lard for the aroma oil. Delicious.
Tomorrow will be Kumamoto-style black garlic tonkotsu.

randomly sold my second machinedrum.. wasnt planning on it, but saw a WTB post on one of the gear facebook groups i am on, and by the end of the day i had $2000 in my hand.
given i paid $500 for it and $160 for a replacement top panel, i think i did ok.
probably under priced.. but easy come easy go
I’m 50 today. Finally made it. Seemed easy enough actually. Made shed loads of pizza tonight after going for some insane Michelin starred food over the weekend. Good times! X

That went well so I created a whole suite of tools for testing internet speed, webcam and audio before meetings etc.

In around 12 hours of time since Friday, I used Claude to build a tool to automate Instagram posts to my account https://www.instagram.com/shape_… so I can do a better job of promoting the prints I'm making. That's been the part I've not been doing.
I created post formats for square, 4:5, and 9:16 reels and can post as either a single post or carousel. The reel feature builds out mp4 videos by animating from screen-to-screen. I've got four design formats for full view of a print, detail view, a specs view showing print prices, and a final promo slide with more info. Can upload my own music to embed in the video and sync bpm with animation timing on the video.
I can queue up posts day by day in a calendar, and post time. It even integrates with Claude to help write post content if I want to use that.
Lives on my NAS, functions in the browser. Far more technical aspects than anything I've done yet because it required a Meta developer account, API keys, etc. and a ton of Terminal usage, including edit/management screens for the NAS that I've never even seen and were really confusing.
At publish time, it sends a zip file to a NAS folder, which then SFTP's to my web host, drops the zip in there temporarily, unpacks it, and the Instagram API grabs it and uses it in the post.
At most per post, I just need to upload an image and edit a description if I want. It's like two minutes of work.
There are full-blown subscription services for this stuff that cost $35+ a month. I did this in 12 hours, customized to my needs, using no tokens and just within my normal Claude account. Hell, it built all this out with Sonnet 5.5! :D

I've been building stuff with AI since spring 2024. I know several of you have as well. What I find fascinating and worth remembering is just how fast this is all moving, and how insane the quality and features are now compared to even the entirety of 2024. I'm probably even doing more than I should have manually, because I think I could have had Claude going directly into Terminal and doing everything there.
One workflow that I've really enjoyed figuring out is having Claude write tasks to a kanban board in ToDoIst, broken down by major tasks and sub-tasks. It stays connected to it and closes out tasks, and drops prompts in there that I need if I'm doing the build in VS Code.

I have seen it, and I would encourage anyone to take a look and decide for oneself if it could be replaced with an email. Received opinion regarding creations like this is just not cricket.
It's the savant, bastard lovechild of Brazil and The Grand Budapest Hotel. It teeters on a rusty fence between Dr Strangelove and Twelve Monkeys. It gathers influences from far and wide: Peter Greenaway, The Coen Brothers and Terry Gilliam and all the while it inhabits it's own space.
It's a feast for the eyes, beautiful production design, camera work and editing. It's funny and tragic. Cruise, Plemons, Goodman, Huller, Ahmed are all excellent. It's a film you should make your own mind up about as I suspect the blatant political and social commentary could feel a bit too targeted for some.
